Over the last few years, nearly 1,000 Fort Collins bicyclists have been injured in bicycle-automobile accidents. These numbers are expected to rise as Fort Collins traffic engineers continue to see an “upward trend in bicycle crash frequency.”
According to reports, since 2008, there have been 923 bicyclist injuries, four of which ended in fatality. In 2013, alone, 141 cases of bike-car accidents have been reported.
Dr. Schott Johnson, medical director of the Poudre Valley emergency room, continues to urge drivers to pay more attention to cyclists.
Bicycles provide people with an environmentally-friendly, economical means of transportation in addition to promoting physical fitness. Cyclists shouldn’t be subject to physical injury.
