Study shows children in dog bites attacks most likely to know the dog

A study done by the University of Colorado School of Medicine found that children are the most likely victim of dog attacks and that the face is the most common place to be attacked. Also, it was found that many of the attacks are done by the family dog.

According to the Center of Disease Control, nearly 4.5 million people are attacked by dogs each year and 885,000 require some type of medical attention.

The study looked at 537 children that were involved in dog bite attacks between the years of 2003 and 2008. It was found that in a majority of cases, the child knew the animal either through family or friend. Researchers said that the study shows that any breed of dog can bite, especially if provoked.
