Last Thursday afternoon, a construction worker was killed in a tragic accident near Aspen. Police report that the victim was a 39-year old man from Minnesota working for a construction company out of Denver.
According to Pitkin County officials, the fatal accident occurred when the worker’s safety cord became caught and tangled in a hard-rock construction drill. The worker was then pulled into the auger.
Several co-workers witnessed the accident and stopped the auger, but it was too late. Investigators will be looking into the accident further.
Our utmost sympathies go out to the victim’s family and friends.
