Denver has tied with Philadelphia for eighth place on the list of cities with the “top dog attacks.” The list is compiled by the U.S. Postal Service on the number of attacks on letter carriers each year.
Houston is the top city for dogs who attack mail carriers each year. Last year, there were 62 reported attacks on mail carriers. Denver and Philadelphia both had 31 dog attacks each.
Medical expenses from these attacks cost the USPS nearly $1.2 million. Sunday began National Dog Bite Prevention Week so keep your dog indoors or within the borders of a fence so that your mail carriers are safe.
