The parents of an Eagle teenager have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Vail Resorts after losing their son to an avalanche in January.
The suit alleges the resort failed to close off a dangerous section during an avalanche warning. The teenager went into one of the areas that remained open under the impression it would be safe. He was killed in an avalanche in that section of the resort.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center issued an avalanche warning for that morning. The wrongful death suit claims Vail Resorts failed to uphold its responsibility to heed such warnings.
Our condolences go out to the family in their time of loss.
