Fischer Price toy wagon and blocks recalled for laceration hazard

This week, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission released a report stating that the Fischer Price Little Builders’ Load ‘n Go wagon and building blocks set poses a laceration hazard to children.  Mattel and Fischer Price subsequently issued a voluntary recall of around 208,000 of the wagon and building block sets in the U.S.

The defective product was sold by retailers from June 2009 to July 2011 and includes a red plastic wagon, a plastic toy dog, and multi-colored plastic building blocks.

The toy manufacturer and the CPSC have received 7 reports of injury involving the recalled product.  In most reports, children were injured after falling on the wagon’s yellow plastic handle.  5 of these reports involved injuries which necessitated treatment involving stitches or surgical glue.
