Mail carrier sues dog owner over dog bite

A mail carrier from East Hartford, Connecticut has filed a lawsuit against the owner of a German Shepard that bit her on the leg.

According to the lawsuit, the letter carrier was delivering mail at a home in East Hartford when the dog broke through the home’s screen door, ran after her down the street, and bit her twice on her left thigh.  The attack occurred in August 2010.

Court documents filed at the Hartford Superior Court state that the mail carrier suffered from “severe fright, terror and emotional distress” after the dog attack.  Additionally, after the incident, the plaintiff resigned from her job.

The woman is seeking compensation for medical expenses and lost earnings. The plaintiff also claims that her injuries have affected her ability to work and future earnings.
