A man from Pueblo is being accused of child cruelty after a baby under his care was hospitalized with skull fractures. At the hospital, doctors found cocaine in the baby’s system.
The baby’s mother was taking a nap at the man’s house with her child. The man claims that the baby started crying. After trying to wake up the mother, who was non-responsive, he says he changed the baby’s diaper and fed it a bottle.
When the mother awoke, she says her eight month old child’s color looked off and his eyes had rolled to the back of his head. The mother wanted to take her child to the hospital, while the man insisted that the child was fine. While being investigated, he told officers he wanted to speak to his lawyer before he would turn himself in.
