A survey of 2,500 parents in the middle of a divorce revealed that 1 in 4 people still hope to reconcile their marriage even late into divorce proceedings.
The survey was a part of a study titled “Interest in Marital Reconciliation Among Divorcing Parents” and was conducted by researchers at the University of Minnesota. The study’s participants were all parents in the middle of a divorce and who had taken parenting classes.
3 in 10 individuals involved in the study said that they would like to receive professional help to reconcile their marriage. Among couples involved in the study, both spouses in 1 in every 10 married couples were interested in getting help to reconcile their marriage.
Officials say the study is the first to collect data on divorcing parents’ interest in reconciliation.
