Colorado Springs man killed after suffering traumatic brain injury

A man from Colorado Springs was killed after falling from North Maroon Peak and suffering from a traumatic brain injury.

According to police officials, the accident occurred when a boulder suddenly became loose and caused the man to fall down the 14,000- foot rock. Officials estimated that the man fell roughly 800 feet and that he was climbing alone at the time.

Other climbers found the man and called emergency officials. A helicopter arrived at the scene to transport the man to the hospital, but he was later pronounced dead by rescue workers. The county coroner has now stated that the official cause of death was a traumatic brain injury. It was said that he was wearing a helmet at the time, but not a harness.
