The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission along with the Delta Enterprises Corp. are re-announcing the product recall of drop-side cribs after a second infant was killed in January 2011.
Over one million of the cribs were recalled for the same reason that they were recalled in October 2008. The malfunction occurs when the drop side of the crib detaches and falls on the child causing them to be entrapped and suffocated. In both of the cases, the cribs were reassembled without safety pegs on the tracks.
The chairmen of the CPCS has announced that this is why it is dangerous to accept second hand cribs because you are unaware if all of the parts are working correctly.
Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
