The semi-truck driver involved in a fatal truck accident in Glenwood Springs yesterday is being charged with reckless driving causing a fatality. A 24-year old woman was killed in the accident.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the 58-year old truck driver ran a red light while driving in the southbound lanes of Highway 82. The accident occurred at about 1:15 p.m. when the truck driver struck the woman’s vehicle as it turned left onto the highway from County Road 154.
The 18-wheeler struck the driver’s side of the woman’s Jeep. The victim’s vehicle was then pushed across the two lanes of oncoming traffic before stopping at the highway’s northeast shoulder.
Police report that speed, alcohol, and drugs are not believed to be factors in the accident.
