The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health recently completed a study into the occurrence of traumatic brain injuries in all industries of the U.S. workforce.
The Epidemiology of Fatal Occupational Traumatic Brain Injury says that workers in the construction industry are the most likely to suffer a traumatic brain injury. The study also says that the most common cause of fatalities in the construction industry is falls.
In previous studies, the most common cause of fatalities in the construction industry was found to be motor vehicle accidents. Researchers believe that the significant increase in the percentage of the U.S. workforce over the age of 65 contributed to the shift from motor vehicle accidents to falls.
