Forty-five-year-old Grand Junction resident Michael Barnes was driving his 1999 Dodge Ram near the intersection of 13 and 0 and ½ roads in Loma, Colorado when he crashed into a 2007 Kenworth rear-dump trailer operated by fellow Grand Junction man, 44-year-old Dale Tweedy on Monday, July 1, at around 8:40 a.m.
Barnes, who was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred, had to be removed from his vehicle by emergency responders.
According to initial investigations, the Kenworth was coming out from a residential area at 1676 13 Road and was trying to head south on Colorado Highway 139, when it turned in front of Barnes’ truck, which was heading north on 139.
