Earlier this month, a 50-year old woman was injured and sent to the hospital in critical condition after she was struck by an SUV.
The pedestrian accident occurred at around 7:03 p.m. in Clifton, Colorado as the woman was taking her dog for a walk on the sidewalk along Canyon Trail.
Neighbors witnessed the terrifying accident and told police that a 1993 GMC Suburban traveling northbound down Canyon Trail failed to properly negotiate a curve in the road, jumping the curb, and continuing onto the sidewalk.
Police believe the vehicle’s 21-year old driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
The woman was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Her dog was killed in the accident.
