A jury in Weld County has awarded a woman $15 million after a slip at the Wal-Mart in Greeley in 2007 caused her to be injured and have to miss work as a result of it.
This is considered one of the largest slip and fall verdicts of its kind in the nation. The woman was a self-employed trucker that was delivering food to Wal-Mart in 2007 when she slipped on ice and grease on one of the steps of the receiving ramps behind the store.
She fell on her back causing a spinal cord injury the required three spine surgeries. The woman claims that the tried to tell the employee that met her at the ramp about the incident, but the person refused to take a report. The woman could not work after the accident and her medical bills totaled to almost $500,000.
